A Remarkable Milestone for Family Councils in Long-Term Care Homes
Independent Long-Term Care Councils Association of BC (ILTCCABC) is a “Provincial Association of Family Councils” representing the important collective voice of residents, their families, and residents’ representatives.
During COVID, many family caregivers who participated in a family council, experienced their loved ones become collateral damage in the policy decision making without input from the very people these decisions affected.
We used social media to connect and discover Vancouver Island Association of Family Councils (VIAFC).
What We Do
VCAFC provides a forum for networking family council of long-term care in the Vancouver Coastal region to discuss common issues, and work to find solutions, and ultimately, share our concerns and ideas with our provincial association of family councils; a registered non-profit society named (ILTCCABC).
VCAFC is one of 5 regional associations
What is a Family Council
A Resident and/or Family Council is a group of persons who either live in a long-term care (LTC) home, their families, and/or the residents’ representative, who meet regularly to maintain and enhance the quality of life of residents in LTC. Councils exist to engage the resident community and to improve the experiences of all residents,
